Tight security arrangements in Mau


MAU: Elaborate security arrangements have been made in this riot-torn town in view of Eid festival today even as curfew was relaxed in the morning to facilitate offering of special prayers.

No untoward incident was reported from anywhere in the district, police sources said here.

The main prayers were offered at the Shahi Katra Masjid grounds amidst tight security arrangements, sources said adding prayers were offered at several mosques in the town.

Curfew would be relaxed from 0900 to 1700 hours, they said.


There was no report of any untoward incident from anywhere in the district during curefw relaxation, police said adding security personnel, however, continued to maintain a strict vigil in the affected areas.

Arranagements have been made to distribute essential commodities to the people in the curfew-bound areas, sources said.

Curfew was imposed in the town following communal clashes during Dussehra festivals in which 12 people were killed and over 40 others injured.
